Finding these bots felt like collecting Waddle Dees in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but with nostalgic excitement every time a special bot is recognized. Every bot collected throughout the levels gets sent to a hub world called The Crash Site. And while it is fun to go around and interact with the bots here, there is a small chance that you will recognize every single one of them.

Part of Astro Bot’s success was the lengthy development time and attention given to the game. Many hope Sony will simply let Team Asobi do its thing and are perfectly content giving the next game the time it needs. You must complete the Great Master Challenge in order to find and collect Chop Chop Master Onion Special Bot. As the name implies, this is one of the most difficult levels in Astro Bot, so be sure to check out our full walkthrough for tips on how to complete the Great Master Challenge. Games nominated in the Family category rarely win Game of the Year; the only other time it’s happened was when It Takes Two took the top prize in 2021. The Game Awards voting jury generally prefers games aimed at an adult audience, with more “mature” themes and presentation. The jury also favors games with strong narrative elements, which Astro Bot just doesn’t have. There’s a sentimental and emotive appeal to adults inherent in both games — more so than in, say, Super Mario Bros. Wonder — and this might have helped Astro Bot strike a deeper chord in the voting jury’s hearts. This is because while Astro Bot is that celebration of PlayStation’s history, it’s also a visual graveyard of IP that will never again see the light of day, making their appearance absolutely sting.
Once you have a total of 16 Puzzle Pieces, they will automatically fill in the Gatcha Lab puzzle and the Gatcha Lab will appear at your Crash Site. Find your first Puzzle Piece to unlock the A Puzzling Start trophy. You will come across your first Puzzle Pieces in the Sky Garden. Luckily, none of the collectibles or Hidden Trophies in Astro Bot are missable, so even if you miss one of these things during your first playthrough, you can always go back to grab what you’re missing for that Platinum Trophy. I’m not a trophy hunter and usually just move on after it gets grindy.
Astro Bot received PlayStation 5 Pro support and new, more challenging levels back in February. Team Asobi’s platformer won numerous Game of the Year awards, including at 2024’s The Game Awards and the 2025 BAFTA Awards. In Team ASOBI’s first true opportunity at creating an AAA game, it is safe to say, they knocked it out of the park. Astro Bot[a] is a 2024 Platform game developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5. The Last of Us Part 2 was named game of the year 326 times to Hades’ 75. Still, Balatro developer LocalThunk can go home delighted with three awards, tying for second place behind Astro Bot. The feel of Astro Bot is both incredible and incredibly frustrating, but not for the reasons you think. Everything from running, jumping, bashing, and using Astro Bot’s boot thrusters to clear a gap feels incredible. The precise movements the little bot makes is fine-tuned to perfection. The controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are showcased in ways that show the relationship that Team Asobi has with the Dual Sense design team.
This year alone there has been some first class games released all over the shop. Could it just be that all the critics are right and this is a good game? Not overhyped, not over exaggerated, just a bug free, well made bit of fun. They are used to seeing the PS5 struggle with unreal engine 5 games, so a platform game that renders low quality cartoon textures at a fast rate but only occasional dips below 60 was a surprise. I am playing now with my daughter and I find something that team Asobi are geniuses. [newline]Insomniac just pissing on the floor with Rift Apart over Crack in Time’s built up dramatic change of the formula & pathetic rift feature that Crack built up as a start on an HDD.
Not sure I’ll use it, unless I get really stuck trying to find something, but still appreciated. This has been one of the few websites that’s given this game the coverage it deserves. I was suprised how easily some of the collectibles are to miss. The game is very streamline I would have thought no way I am missing this stuff lol. In addition to new levels, Sony as part of its June State of Play announced a new limited-edition Astro Bot DualSense controller, one with a slightly different expression from a previous Astro Bot controller.

One level allows you to explore a recognisably domestic world but you can drastically change size, bashing through doorways one minute and wriggling through a gap in the skirting board a minute later. Another lets you transform into an ultra-heavy version of Samus Aran’s morph ball thingy, and has brilliant stuff for you to do once you have. These levels feel so Nintendo-like because they get everything out of their ideas. If you’re small but you can become big, can you blow stuff up from inside?
It truly takes advantage of all the different features the PS5 remote offers and is just pure awesome joy.
